Is the Canon SX100 IS good at taking close up pictures?

I checked out the Canon SX100 IS in the store and it looks pretty cool and it’s in my price range. The only thing that bothers me is I’m not sure how well it’ll take close up pictures and getting pictures of flowers is important to me. I read that it has a macro range of 1 cm. Is this good?

Macro range of 1 cm means it can focus as close as 1 cm in Macro mode, so it is pretty good.
Reply:if you want to get a camera that is within your price range...try to compare it with other cameras so that you know which one is better. don't just buy it and then next thing you know it will only break or you might regret it.
Reply:If focusing to 1 cm is good enough for you (notice they don't tell you the macro ratio ((1:1 or 1:2), just a distance).

For true macro work (like scientific and field research, document copying and other technical macro work) a Nikon or Canon DSLR and a macro lens in the 55mm, 60mm or 100mm focal length would be a better choice.
Reply:Thats excellent macro.
Reply:Just to let you know...I brought this camera home this week and was very disappointed with the delay in shooting (7-12 seconds in between shots when using the flash - the camera kind of freezes up, so even if you dont want to use the flash for your next shot, you still have to wait). Needless to say, it's going back. However, I must say that the zoom was incredible - just depends on what you're looking for.
