Do you know what flower this is? Picture is inside.?

I will be having my wedding late next summer and I love these flowers that I have in my garden. I can't find the tags that had there name and I don't remember what they are. I would really like to buy more seeds so that I can grow a bunch for my wedding.

Thanks in advance :)

Do you know what flower this is? Picture is inside.?
They look like some type of tulip or a relation of. When was this pic taken ? Last spring or current ? RScott
Reply:I can't tell you what they are but, I would like to let you know that some flowers aren't study enough to withstand cutting and using in arrangements. Some just die right off or the buds fall off.

You would have to try testing the flowers out to see how long they last and see if they keep their bud beautiful for a couple of days.

You should always have a backup plan in case the flowers don't turn out well. Sometimes they are tricky. It is better to be safe then sorry.
Reply:The picture isn't rendering well for me, but the color and leaf shape that I could make out remind me of Eustoma, aka lisianthus. Might want to poke around with google images and do a comparison.

What type of flower is this?

I am living in Honduras, and took a picture of some yellow flowers that sort of resemble an ear of corn. I have seen them on Roatan and in Tegucigalpa. Sometimes the flower has a few white petals coming out of the yellow portion. Here is a picture of the mystery plant:

It's a lollipop plant, or called a yellow shrimp plant. Scientific name is Pachystachys lutea.

right click desktop, properties. get the desktop thing up, where it lets u select background. How do I remove paint from a brick fireplace??

The brick on my fireplace was painted by the last people who lived there. I want to expose the beautiful brick under that paint. How do I get the paint off? Also what are some ideas for the mantle? What goes on the mantle pictures ?? flowers??? candles???

How do I remove paint from a brick fireplace??
you cant sand blast inside the house do you know all that fine sand what it will get into you're not going to get that paint off just live with it or repaint with something else
Reply:Sandblast.

Put whatever you want on mantle but remember candles may melt.
Reply:Paint thinner and a wire brush, sandblasting.... I have a large mirror above my mantle. As well as pictures, flowers and candles one the mantle itself. Keep it simple though.
Reply:forget the sandblasting, you'll be cleaning sand until Christmas 2008. Go with the paint remover and wire brush, but be careful in the grout lines. Your local home center will have chemicals to make this job go faster. But be warned, it is a messy job. Remember to ventilate!

Flower similar to a Gardenia?

I have a person that works with me that had these beautiful BIG flowers on her desk. She didn't know what they were but to me it looked similar to the Gardenia pictured here...

http://www.fullbloomfarmpeonies.com/cata...

I thought that's what it might be but there were other flowers that were bright purple and red and white. (all looking the same). She knew they came from a bush but that's about it. I have just never seen a flower this big (almost the size of a paper plate!). Does anyone know of any flowers that might look similar and have color?

Flower similar to a Gardenia?
I agree with the other answerer, I think you're looking at Peony(Paeonia). Most are herbaceous perennials, although there are some woody/ shrubby ones (Paeonia suffructosa). Peony is available in a wide range of colors, some flowers are fragrant. All do best in full sun with the soil being kept moist.

Your local independent garden center should have a selection of plants available this time of year. I would suggest picking one in a two or three gallon pot. If you start too small, it'll be years before you see some 'serious' flowering.

Good luck-
Reply:Sounds like a peony to me--they smell wonderful and come in different colors.
Reply:The picture you have is of a Peony. The variety is named "Gardenia", because of it's color and it's wonderful scent.

-peonies are long-lived (over 50 years).

-peonies are hardy (to USDA zone 2).

-peonies are drought tolerant.

-peonies are low maintenance.

-peonies are deer-resistant.

-with thoughful selection of cultivars, the peony bloom season can last 6-8 weeks

-many new varieties have strong stems.

-peonies have been cultivated for more than 2000 years as medicinal and ornamental plants.

-flowers come in a range of colours, including yellow, coral, peach and lavender, in addition to white, blush, pink, magenta, and red.

Peony blooms may be single, semi-double, double, anemone, Tree variety, or Japanese in form, and their scent can be classified as rose, lemon, honey, or musk.

Can you Design me a Bedroom to suit me (post pictures please)?

I love victorian era bedrooms (but I don't want the whole room to scream old fashioned.), just a flavor, not flowered wallpaper or anything like that! , I'd love to see creative rooms and colour schemes that fit this style. I'd love any Ideas you might have.

AlsoI adore chandeliers. I have a 8 foot ceiling , is there anyway to get a chandeliers to work is this setting?

Can you Design me a Bedroom to suit me (post pictures please)?
celadon green walls with cream and burgandy accents, are what come to mind when you say victorian. The wall color is calming and muted but also has the victorian feel. Also if you could find a bench for the foot of the bed, some lace for accents, and a bold floral comforter. And yes, a chandelier would work with 8 ft. ceilings, you just have to find one that isn't too gaudy (JC Penny had some I found in the nursery catalog) that are inexpensive and would look great.

Reply:Speaking as a horticulturist, I don't think the lily of the valley is the traditional May flower. In fact, depending upon where you live, it is a different flower for different cultures. In Germany, the May flower is the flower of sweet woodruff (Galium odoratus) which is used to make May wine. In Greece, it is the anemone or windflower. In this country (USA) it is often anemone, or some other white flower that blooms in spring. In any case, white is a color that I think is difficult to obtain in tattoos, so you may want to rethink your plan.
Reply:You are absolutely correct, the May flower is Lilly of the Valley, I was born in May. Have you tried typing in the name of the flower and clicking on images instead of web? That usually cuts out the time in a search. If not then for sure the Audubon Society site. Not sure if I spelled Audubon correctly. They also sell books of just flowers. If you go to a book store and ask for an Audubon Society book on wild flowers of the states they should be able to help you. Good luck, sounds like a great tat.

Why won't HTML pictures open in my mail?

I have properly checked "show all pictures" in my Yahoo mail set-up, yet a lot of pictures (flowers, cartoons, jokes) show up with a big or small blank square and a small "x". I am unable to open these Xs. I am able to view many of pictures people send me, but lately more and more of these HTML pictures are coming through blank. What can I do to see these pictures? Is this a yahoo mail problem?

Why won't HTML pictures open in my mail?
At the bottom of the screen there should be a link that says: "Edit my preferences". Click on this and choose: "Display HTML images".

You will probably have to do this for each e-mail you open.

Where can I find pictures of different plant root systems?

I have to draw the roots of fifteen different plants for an assignment, two of each of the following trees, fruit, flowers, vegetable, tubers and weeds.

Where can I find pictures of different plant root systems?
Two trees! What a tough question. Try an oak and a conifer. The oak will have a root structure that looks like the crown (branches) whereas the conifer will be shallower and more surface rooting.

Fruit. Try a strawberry that roots on runners (stolon) and a can fruit like a raspberry that roots on suckers that run underground (rhizomes).

Flower. Pick one with a bulb like a daffodil and an above ground rhizome like a bearded iris.

Vegetable. Carrots have tap roots, onions bulbs with a fibrous roots.

Tubers. Potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes.

Weeds. Dandelion has a tap root (perennial), bittercress has fibrous roots (annual) others like couch grass have underground rhizomes.

Broadly speaking, the annuals have poor fibrous root systems on the whole that don't allow them to withstand the winter. The perennials have good underground storage root systems that withstand the cold.

Hope that helps a bit. A good book to borrow would be the Principles of Horticulture if you wanted to look into it further.

Hope you have every success.
Reply:It is seen in the Botany text book. ie, its well displayed in the

Taxonamy text book. In Taxonamy text draw and labelled the root system and shoot system of various trees, fruit, flowers, vegetable, tubers and weeds. So you can see pictures of different plant root systems.

In another method is search of good botany related site.

Reply:Yahoo image search x
Reply:Type "root systems" under Yahoo Image search. Lots of jump off points from there.

What kind of plant/ flower is this? Does it bloom or is it just leaves?
It looks like some sort of lilly to me. Wait it out and see. It may bloom. I have some that bloom in summer and some in the fall. So don't give up. Either re-plant and wait till next year or leave and just wait.

nfd♥
Reply:My first guess is a daylily-- might depend on in what zone you are living.

If it is a daylily, there will be bloom buds coming from the center on a long stem-- they will bloom and the bloom will last one day. If the plant is too crowded, the blooms will be small.

Hope that helps.

I do not think there is a national flower for Italy.

Lily is the flower for Florence as it was in the coat of arms of the Medici Family.

Can you help identify this flower?

The flower is very fragrant. It is a beautiful flower and I cannot figure out what it is. Here is a picture...

Can you help identify this flower?
It appears to be a type of single peony.

http://badattitudes.com/MT/archives/0025...

http://www.acresofaroids.com/images/Tree...

http://www.greystoneg.com/Spring%20image...

Most of the peonies you see are double ones but there are single ones--where the petals are arranged like this. It is beautiful as are all peonies.

Wish I could see the bottom of it.

No upon studying it more it is definitely a Japanese Tree Peony, the single type.

You should see what the plant looks like--a little woody shrub with several of these beauties in bloom on it. I have seen them and have never forgotten them.
Reply:Looks like it came from the Rose family to me.
Reply:Could it be a hibiscus?
Reply:It would be easier to identify if you could see what kind of a plant it comes from. Is it a bush, a tree, or a single plant? What do the leaves look like?
Reply:i truly believe it's a peony. i have the same flower in pink. the smell covers my whole yard.

Can anyone recommend a shrub/plant for indoor use that will have a blue flower?

I would like to have something that will bloom in blue to remind me of a close relative who passed away recently. If anyone has any good suggestions as to which plant or small tree they think would be suitable... links to sites where I can see a picture would be very useful also... thanks :o)

Can anyone recommend a shrub/plant for indoor use that will have a blue flower?
My mother has this plant and it is an amazing shade of blue. One of the truest blue flowers I have ever seen.It needs a whole lot of sun to bloom inside though and she does put it outside in the summer. Still, it is a very cool plant and you might want to check into it.

http://www.anniesannuals.com/signs/t%20-...

Apparently some blue hydrangeas can be successfully grown indoors but I have no experience with it and am somehow skeptical.

http://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/83712-pro...

Exacum (persian violet ) can be a lovely blooming houseplant but the blue does tend to fall on the purple end of the spectrum. They are pretty though, so you might want to look at them.

http://www.yoder.com/ASSETS/0F311CCA88BA...

I've never tried to grow ageratum indoors but it might be worth a shot. After all impatiens grows and blooms beautifully inside. Ageratum is one of the bluest flowers that is readily availble.

http://www.hort.wisc.edu/mastergardener/...

If you have room for any outdoor plants in blue I would strongly recommend planting flax (linum perenne). It is amazingly beautiful and SO blue.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linum_peren...

Platycodon (balloonflower) is another but it isn't quite as true blue.

http://www.gorgetopgardens.com/perennial...

Campanula is another pretty one and there are many varieties, some of which might do well inside.

http://www.wildgingerfarm.com/Campanula....

I hope you find what you're looking for. My sympathies on your loss.
Reply:A favorite of mine is cape primrose (streptocarpus). It is in the African violet family but not as demanding. It is covered almost all summer long with tiny blue flowers. It can also be kept outdoors in shade in warmer climates. Here is a link -
Reply:Fuchsia and orchids are more purplish than blue, so they won't work for you.

African violet is an easy house plant that blooms forever, and comes in many shades of blue. See the example at the link below.
Reply:A Fuchsia will be an ideal plant, that gives blooms for many months.I just bought a one year old Fuchsia of EBay,a perennial hardy plant, that you can put out side or in a pot.

Have a look on EBay to give you an idea for what you want.
Reply:How about a Californian Lilac (Ceanthous), hardy shrub which is flowering now. All varieties have a blue flower which the bees love, some varieties have a lovely deep blue flower.
Reply:Try a Vanda orchid.
Reply:I grew very successfully a blue balloon plant. So blue you'll love don't forget to use Bloom Buster Miracle Grow to keep the food it requires.
Reply:Hydrangea in acid soil will have blue flowers.

I am looking for brown accents in a white/green bouquet. I found some brown flower/leaf things that I love. Does anyone know what these are? Here is a picture.

Any other suggestion for brown flowers would be great! I have looked at brown cosmos and peonies.

Thanks!

What are these flower/leaf things?!?
I don't know what those are, but you may want to consider bearded iris varieties, Gingerbread Man, Mountain Melody or Afternoon Delight. Daylilies include Chocolate Dude and Double Bourbon. There is Chocolate Cosmos, a Morning Glory called Silk Rose and Chocolate Columbine.
Reply:I don't know what they are....but take your photo to your local florist and ask if they know what it is. :)

I believe the others are Anemones? And the dark ones look like Tulips.

Edelweiss or botanically known as Leontopodium Alpinum, the Nationnal flower of Austria is one of the best-known European mountain flowers. What is the national flower of Russia? Why was it chosen?
i checked on the internet for you and it is-

Camomile (Matricaria Recutita), a member of the daisy family Aromatic, Fruity, Floral fragrance, is the national flower of Russia. Native to West Asia, this flower grows freely everywhere.

Used for hysteria and nervous diseases, prevention of gangrene, for breaking up typhoid and in combination with bittersweet for bruises, sprains, calluses and corns, this flower possibly is one of the most important central European remedies, whereas blue chamomile oil is very soothing and dried flowers make a relaxing infusion.

this is what the flower looks like- http://www.theflowerexpert.com/media/ima...

i dont know why it was chosen.

Reply:When the USSR existed, the carnation was its national flower, but the cammomile flower is the current emblem of the Russian Federation.
Reply:In my region its sunflower, but it growing as export just here in South Russia...
Reply:There is no officially declared national flower, but I think that if there was one it would be lily-of-the-valley (which actually is the national flower of our northern neighbor, Finland). These flowers are fairly common, but they tend to be romanticized a lot because they're associated with unpolluted forests and the old unindustrialized way of life.
Reply:Daisy for sure, they seem to like cooldish weather.
Reply:I am sorry girl, but there is none or at least I am not aware of it. The national tree is certainly a birch, but I do not think that there is any national flower.

I am not sure if Greece has a national flower but Cyprus has one for sure. It's the Cyclamen, this flower can grow and bloom on a rock and because of its strength and its capability to survive it was chosen as a symbol for the millions of years of Greek existence in Cyprus, an existence which usually was under harsh conditions.

The Greeks in Cyprus continue to bloom just like the Cyprus Cyclamen baby!

Reply:Hmm, I did not know we have a National flower.

Violet is very nice, as it is one of my Very favorites, commonly called in Greece Menexes or official name: Ion to Evosmon(good smelling violet). My grandmother used to tell me that we call them Forget-me-Nots (Mi me lismoni) and that's the meaning when offered to someone. We always had them in the garden. They used to be sold in Athens at corners in winter, by poor women or kids. Even 4 years ago down town.

There is also an old nostalgic song about Menexethes.

Flowers used in cooking and the honey from its flowers is popular.

http://www.ontariowildflower.com/images/...

Kimon, I like Gaithouragatho too! Milk Thistle in English, good for liver and food poisoning. My grandmother again pointed out the beauty of the flower of this thorny weed. Gaithouragatho means Donkey thorn and it is eaten by donkeys. (tends to be used also as to have the meaning of beautiful but poor, or meaning that someone is a Beautiful Thorn, or to mean that someone gave such quality flowers as wild thorns)

Reply:I agree with some of the previous answerers, Greece hasn't got a national flower...

I found a similar question in Y!A, here's the best answer: "The national plant of Greece is the olive since the ancient years. For what concerns a national flower I do not think it exists. Flowers there are a lot but to have been characterized as national I do not think so."

And here's another one, stating: "I've seen conflicting info. Some say Greece doesn't have a flower or a bird. Some say it's flowers are Violet, and Laurel"

And from WikiAnswers:

"Truth is Greece has no set national flower or bird......While the most famous varieties of flora in the Greek nation are the 'violet', 'laurel', and the 'Bear's breech', none have been adopted as the national flower"

Hope I've helped...Good luck with your blog!

Non-pro digital camera that takes kinda artistic pictures?

http://exilim.casio.com/ %26lt;%26lt;%26lt; these new Casio cameras are excellent. The have a "best shot mode" which adjusts all the settings for you according to what you are photographing - everything from running water to sunsets, close-ups to landscapes and it has an anti-shake facility to stop your pics getting blurry if your hand moves when you press the button. (I bought my wife one for Christmas... and now I'm looking to buy one myself)

Reply:I would definitely recommend a FujiFinePix. I have an S5200 and it is great. I never thought a camera from Walmart (eeek!) would work soooooo good. I am planning on majoring in photography, so I am moving on to "bigger and better" cameras, but I would definitely recommend this to you if you aren't too serious about it. It retails for 200-300 bux, which, believe me, is very good. You could try a cheaper model of the FujiFinePix, but I am not sure how much the quality would decrease. Make sure you do get one with manual settings, as they have come in handy quite a bit. You can look at my photos, all taken with my FinePix here: www.yoshi07.deviantart.com/gallery As you will see my photos, the concert photos were taken using the manual settings for shutter speed because you need a faster shutter speed. The fireworks were taken using a slower shutter speed, leaving the lens open for 5 seconds. A regular "point-and-shoot" cannot do this. Also, it has a great zoom, 10x, almost 4 times the average zoom. It has a macro setting too, which lets you get within 2-3 inches of your subject, and it is still crystal clear. I think thats it...haha.

I did similar work in the ninetees but with screws. I liked the look of it and sold some of them. What I did was I used plywood 3/4 thick and screwed the screws in in different shapes and then painted shapes around them and also painted the heads different colors and left some heads exposed . the screws come in different colors too. I used acrylic paint and gel midium for sheen.

Reply:paint the picture on a firm but flexible paper first with something like oil paint, hammer the nails into the board without paint, then press the paper paint-side down onto the nails. If the paper's flexible enough, you should be able to "print" it onto the nails. It may not get some of the lower ones, but you can always re-paint those based on the marks on the picture. Also, it will come out reversed, so paint words as a mirror image.
Reply:try some colorful cardboard to make the petal use tackey glue, super glue or fabric paint to hold the petal on the nail

I need flower suggestions for SC?

Basically I have a rose garden which is pretty well along and looks good etc. I have some blank spots in the garden which I need to fill in with some extra color. The flower needs to conform to the following perameters please:

*Max height of plant: no more than 1 ft

*Prefers Full Sunlight (it gets hot here)

*Preferably likes a semi-moist soil (it would match the other watering needs of it's neighbor plants)

*Ideally it would bloom from Spring to mid / late summer

All suggestions are appreciated, if possible please link to pictures.

Many thanks in advance.

I need flower suggestions for SC?
Check out www.burpee.com. I would suggest lantana or verbena. They both bloom profusely, don't have a lot of mess and stay low to the ground. Lantana comes in bright colors like oranges, yellows, and some with all that and hot pink. Verbenas come in purples, pinks, and I've even seen white. Check your labels, because some get bigger than others.
Reply:What about Lavender shrubs? Also some succulent and cacti have awesome flowers and colours and are pretty much 'maintenance free'.
Reply:try going to hgtv.com. They have all the gardening shows there, lots of pics, plans %26amp; info.

What is the national flower of Bulgaria ? Why was it chosen?
Interesting question :-))))))))))))))))

The national flower of Bulgaria is the rose.Bulgaria is the biggest rose oil producer in the world indeed and biggest investor in the Bulgarian rose oil is France(they used it for their perfumes because it smells more than fantastic ;-)))) I disagree that these rosed are red -they are pink-I've been where they grow (in a vast valley beyond the Balkan Mountains).Because of them Bulgaria is called "Land of roses"
Reply:According to a legend, returning soldiers of Alexander Macedon’s garrisons brought the first roses to Thrace from the region of the town Kashan in Persia through Syria and Damascus. Bulgarian scientists presume that the cultivation of the roses was introduced to the region round Kazanlak, a town founded by the Turks in 1420. The roses were reportedly brought from Tunisia by a Turkish judge, who had beautiful vast gardens planted with fragrant roses. This is the trip of the rose.

After the developing of this industry in the Middle Ages and inventing the double and multiple distillation, the Bulgarian rose oil soon made a name for its superior quality. The demand for this oil of unsurpassed quality has not faded until today. The Bulgarian producers of the time became aware of the fact that they were manufacturing a new and precious product.
Reply:i guess it's the rose,l cuz they are known for their rose oil
Reply:http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/flower...

Reply:The national flower is the red rose but this is only in modern times.

The rose is an important flower to Bulgaria being a major producer of rose oil which is an essential component for most perfumes. Lots of facts are here for this -%26gt; http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/...

Blood oranges have bright red centers to very dark red. They can be pretty pricey out of season and sometimes hard to find. You should also note that they are not going to be uniform in color. One orange may be a cherry red while the next you slice can be almost purple. If you want summery consider another red fruit maybe? What about strawberries or even fresh cherry? Watermelon slices? They are reddish and have the black seeds.

Any wisdom would be appreciated!

How do I make PICTURES compatible with different BROWSERS on websites I create?
I looked in your code and surrounding the pictures are tags which appear to have conditional statements. I am not familiar with this type of code but this is what I tried and it did work.

%26lt;![if !vml]%26gt;

%26lt;span style='position:absolute;z-index:13;

left:92px;top:201px;width:180px;height...

href="http://www.gregernsthomes.com/"%26gt;... border=0 width=180 height=34

src="index_files/image3111.gif" v:shapes="_x0000_s1043"%26gt;%26lt;/a%26gt;%26lt;/span%26gt;

%26lt;![endif]%26gt;

That is the code for the picture that didn't work in IE.

%26lt;![if !vml]%26gt;

%26lt;![endif]%26gt;

When I remove the tags above then the picture shows up. You should back up the file and do a search and replace for those tags, then save the file and test to see if it works.
Reply:Pretty much ANY PICTURE that is stored in JPG/JPEG, PNG or GIF format will be able to be view on any browser on any OS in any language.

When using images online, PLEASE AWARE OF THE CASE!!! The web gets VERY PICKY on the case of a file name! If you're off by one character (even case-wise), it won't find it.

Test.JPG is not the same as Test.jpg nor test.jpg, ect.

The only thing I can suggest is that you double-check the location of your images online %26amp; mind the case of file names.

Reply:Go to this site. Anything in this format will work with anything! They have great freeware and you can reduce the sizes of photos easily. Go there... All your problems will be solved. Make it your default picture program. Trust me.
Reply:First of all, you shouldn't keep your image files with the file name associated with the specific program it was made in. Use .jpg or .gif, etc. - whichever file type is more appropriate. Second, the images themselves, especially when set as a .jpg or other normal image file type, shouldn't affect the page layout - what affects this is the page structure in the code and the way specific browsers render that code. I've loaded your page in firefox 1.5.0.7. I'm missing all but the sponsor link button image and i'm missing the image you've created for "this site under construction." I could look at your source code, however i'm too tired to do so right now, but for now i would suggest studying the code and the way the different browsers render it and other similarily structured pages. If you don't feel confident in doing this yourself, you might consider getting teh help of someone who knows a little more about html and website creation/design. There are many forums out there, and possibly chat rooms with such people that may be happy to assist you. If i'm feeling ambitious tomorrow evening, i may check back on this and try and help. Good luck.

What is the national flower of Germany? Why was it chosen?

What is the national flower of Germany? Why was it chosen?
The oak leaf is Germany's national symbol; it's depicted on German eurocent coins. Wikipedia explains the "Eichenlaub" as follows (rough translation from German Wikipedia):

The oak's hard wood and its characteristical leaves which fall late in autumn have made it a symbol of immortality and pertinacity since Germanic times. In later times, especially since the era of Romanticism, it has also become a symbol of faithfulness.

The oak leaf as depicted on German 1, 2 and 5 cent coins can be found here:

http://www.ecb.int/bc/euro/coins/html/de...

Looking for a national flower is hard. There are at least three options:

- The Edelweiß, used in the army as a symbol for bravery, and sort of Bavaria's national flower, as it grows in the Alps

- The daisy, as it can be found everywhere

- The dandelion, as it abounds in spring and makes you look forward to summer because of its bright yellow color

But none of these can really be called a "national" flower.

---

I'm sorry there was a mistake for some time which I've corrected now: Of course, high-ranking officers wear oak leaves on their badges; it someway slipped into the Edelweiß section during editing. (My original text was longer, but I thought I'd delete some unnecessary details before posting, and so it happened. Again, I'm sorry.)
Reply:Germany has no national flower! There's just the oak leaf! But some people sax 'lilies of the valley' are typical German.
Reply:Well, take the Edelweiss or the oak- leave. But actually we haven't got a national flower. Well, we've got the oak- tree. ( oak leaves were painted on the old coins.)
Reply:there are two national symbols in germany. the brandenburg gate and the oak tree.

no flower.

but in the german army the edelweiss flower is used as a mention for bravery. so if you need a flower - take the edelweiss.
Reply:Well this is not a national flower nor is it even locale normally to Germany but it was brought over from Goethe in the 18th Century to Weimar and it is called the Ginko leaf.

The other answers are correct so no reason to add more other than the above.

The ginko is three leaf. here is one link that allows multiple language support. http://www.xs4all.nl/~kwanten/thetree.ht...

Again it is not their national flower, just an un ordinary one that now grows there thanks to Goethe who wrote Faust.
Reply:no need for a national flower.

we have other symbols like the Eagle in our Flag.

as mentioned earlier the oak leave comes close to it.

we love flowers but never been asked to choose one as our national flower.
Reply:they don't do flowers
Reply:We don´t have a national flower in Germany :-) But you can take the Edelweiss, it´s typical for Bavaria. Or maybe the daisy, we have loads of them.
Reply:It's the dandelion. I think it's a pretty flower.
Reply:I am not surprised at all about the fact that German people have not got a national flower....

What is the national flower of the UK? Why was it chosen?

I am making a blog about flowers around the world.

Easy 10pts to whom ever can provide me with a picture link and historic details.

What is the national flower of the UK? Why was it chosen?
England, Rose,

Wales, Daffodil,

Scotland, Thistle,

Northern Ireland, Shamrock,
Reply:There isn't a national flower of the UK. As the other answerer wrote the flower of England is the Rose, but in the other parts of the UK the national flowers are:

Scotland: Thistle (link here: http://www.scotlandsource.com/about/ctva... )

Wales: Daffodil (or Leek)

Ireland (northern): Shamrock

United Kingdom is simply a term that applies to the Union of the above 4 countries.

Wannabee....sorry England is not the UK, even though you were correct about its national flower.
Reply:Rose,
Reply:England - St. George and the Rose:

The national flower of England is the rose. The flower has been adopted as England’s emblem since the time of the Wars of the Roses - civil wars (1455-1485) between the royal house of Lancaster (whose emblem was a red rose) and the royal house of York (whose emblem was a white rose).

Can any one find the Pictures of Former President of Iraq Saddam Huisans grave.?
hi, Those who saw the ceremony said the building was decorated in a Moroccan motif with teak wood walls. The domed burial chamber was about 20 feet tall and hung with a green chandelier. Incense perfumed the burial location where the raised grave covering was about 6 inches above floor level.

What is the best background colour/colours to take pictures?

of wedding bouquets and wedding flowers for a website?

What is the best background colour/colours to take pictures?
Neutral colours like grey, black, white, and beige are good if the flowers are very colourful. If the flowers are of neutral colours, a more vibrant background is usually better. If you visit the website below, there's a link that will take you to a site that shows lots of photographed wedding flowers, which should give you some ideas. (WeddingChannel.com)
Reply:it really doesnt matter, and depends on whether youre lookiing for complimentary colours or contrast... but what you do is shorten the depth of field, or use macro, it throws everything bar the immediate subject out of focus.

paintshop pro x1 has a facility to recreate depth of field..and its pretty good providing you draw the mask freehand...
Reply:A background with the lens cap off...
Reply:Blue, sky blue.
Reply:Not a solid color, but a hzey hue of a country cottage , near a dinner table with old lace and other items placed near, that show up blurred in the background, (just my imagination)!
Reply:beige, light gray with a light blue undertone. outside i would do on a white tablecloth with grass in the back ground......

If the flowers are white do a darker background...but bright vibrant colors do well with the above mentioned colors.
Reply:white.
Reply:In my experience, you cannot beat the ultra white background for wedding photography. In your case of bouquets, I would suggest white or a 18% greybackground. Either way, if your lighting is wrong and not soft, it will not look good. Photoshop is nice, but in my experience, flowers look best when lit right originally.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
Reply:Depends on the colours of the flowers.

If red or white then a light blue background.

If yellow, green or purple then a white background.
Reply:The most beautiful and romantic is white, specially velvet. Then you can add a touch of red by sprinkling red rose pettles everywhere, if you like! I've seen it and it looks beautiful.
Reply:dark or light blue is the best

Anyone know of any website for flower arraignments?

I'm trying to find a step-by-step, idiots guide to how to do a floral bouquet - and I can't find anything with photos/pictures to follow along. I even spent hours at the book store, nothing. There has got to be something out there. Help, please.

Anyone know of any website for flower arraignments?
I agree with the other answer, you really should get a book to give you step by step instructions on the construction of a bouquet. Find one that starts at the conditioning of the flowers and takes you all the way through to the adding of the ribbons. I can give you 3 sites that will show you what is involved.

I might add, as a retired floral designer, a wedding bouquet is one of the most difficult floral designs to do. It also takes a lot of training to learn how to do it properly. That's why they are so expensive. You may want to reconsider doing your own. Hope I was of some help.

Reply:there is no correct way to arrange flowers. it takes alot of practice. my mother is a proffesional florist and she has been doing it almost 20 years. you have to lear how a flower will fall and work with it... really it's all a matter of opinion. if you like the way you arrange your flowers, then you are good at it in your opinion. others may not agree. books can help you learn the tools but never make you a good florist... good luck!

Does yucca palm tree grow flower in them?

just curious. cause i read a blog abt palm trees and saw beautiful pictures of them. do they have a good smell too?

Does yucca palm tree grow flower in them?
The Yucca-Palm is one of the common names for the Joshua Tree. Check out this site for more information about them. It includes photos of the flower, fruit, etc. http://www.delange.org/JoshuaTree/Joshua...

IN RESPONSE TO FURTHER COMMENTS BELOW:

In the botanical world, there are often many different common names for the same plant. There are several different varieties of plant that are often described with the same common name.

As such:

Yucca Palm Tree IS one of the common names used to describe the Yucca brevifolia or Joshua Tree. It very well may be used to also describe the Yucca elata or Soaptree Yucca, but I've personally not heard it referred to as such. It does look much like a small palm tree, so I suppose it would be accurate to call it such if you desire. http://www.fireflyforest.com/flowers/whi...

St. Pepper and M W are both somewhat correct. FYI folks, the Yucca Genus is seperate from the Agave Genus, it was, however, originally classified in the Agave Family, and has subsequently been reclassified into the Lily Family. So you're both right to a point.
Reply:The most spectacular are in Peru, 15 + feet, commonly known there as agave.

The ones I see around the pacifc NW look a little scraggly after a while.
Reply:yucca and agave are completely different things...

yucca is its own genus, so is agave. they're not the same at all.

there is no yucca palm...the things people call yucca palms are actually Soaptree Yuccas, or "Our Lord's Candles." And those aren't the same, or even close to a Joshua Tree.

And a Century plant is Agave americana, not a yucca.

but yes, yuccas will flower.
Reply:new mexico state flower. http://www.50states.com/flower/newmexico...

not a palm, yucca is an agave, like a century plant or taquila

different type of yucca flower http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Yucca...
Reply:Sgt Pepper your information is not correct. Although they are separate genus, they are both in the agave family.

Yes they flower, and most have scent, it all depends on the individual species whether or not it is considered a good smell.

They are all pollinated by specific species of moths in a symbiotic relationship the ensures the continuation of both species.

Check out the web site attached for more information, or do a web search on yucca.

and the second looks like the Australian bottlebrush ?

Both beautiful!

Is there a good gardening website that lets you browse through pictures without knowing the names of the plant

I know what the flowers I want to plant look like, but I have no idea what they are called. So far, I've only found lists of names...do you know of any sites that are more visual based??

Try online gardening companies like Wayside Gardens, Blue Stone Perennials. They show tons of flower pictures with the names.

put them in a phonebook for 24 hours with a couple peices of paper towels that are just barely moist then put them in the picture frame with a peices of white paper behind and let them sit glass side up for 1-2 days and then hang them.It worked for me so it will work for you.Good Luck with pressing.
Reply:They will dry out in a picture frame. Go to a craft shop and see if they have a fixative to preserve petals.

What is the Flower of Luxembourg?

The Rose is Luxembourg's national flower.

Here's a picture (Photo © Jean NEIERTZ) of the rose "L'Indépendance du Luxembourg", created in 1990 by Pépinières Louis Lens of Redinnestraat 11, 8460 Oudenburg, Belgium to celebrate Luxembourg's 150-year independence in 1989.

This rose was created on the initiative of the association "Letzeburger Rousefrënn" [Luxembourg Friends of the Rose].
